Flint\u00a0and Peck School of the Arts colleague Todd Levy, principal clarinet with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, can now add a Grammy Award to their list of research accomplishments, as can their performance colleagues at the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69045\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69045\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-69045\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2019\/03\/Todd-Levy-2019-250x300--250x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69045\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Todd Levy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Composer Mason Bates took home the Grammy for\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grammy.com\/grammys\/awards\/winners-nominees\/106\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Best Opera Recording of 2018<\/a>\u00a0<\/u>for the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra\u2019s recording of \u201cThe (R)evolution of Steve Jobs.\u201d\u00a0Flint, associate professor in the department of music, played French horn on the Grammy-winning album. Levy, adjunct instructor and chamber music coach, played clarinet. This recording, released last spring, also earned \u201c<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2018\/jul\/12\/classical-album-week-bates-the-revolution-of-steve-jobs-review\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Classical Album of the Week<\/a><\/u>\u201d honors from The Guardian in July of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Grammy is always a great honor in our profession,\u201d Levy said, \u201cand this will be my fourth.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69046\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69046\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-69046\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2019\/03\/flint250x300-02222019_IMC_EH_002-250x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69046\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Greg Flint<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Flint relocates to Santa Fe with his family each summer to perform with the 55-member orchestra. \u201c(R)evolution\u201d is his first Grammy, and the recording also marks one of the few times in his career that a composer joined the orchestra in the pit during the recording.<\/p>\n<p>True to its subject, the opera recording incorporated a number of technological twists and techniques not found in traditional opera.
