Maternal & Child Health Pipeline Training<\/a> grant, which aims to boost the diversity of the health care workforce.<\/p>\nThe program recruits and supports undergraduate students from underrepresented and disadvantaged groups who are pursuing degrees from the 51ÁÔÆæ College of Health Sciences, College of Nursing, Helen Bader School of Social Welfare and the College of Letters & Science.<\/p>\n
51ÁÔÆæ nursing student Raven Wright raves about the program.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve learned that I\u2019m really capable of excelling in areas that I never really would have considered otherwise, if I never would have joined MCH,\u201d Wright said. \u201cEveryone that I have met has always given me nothing but support, nothing but encouragement to become a better student and a better person. They always seem to have my back.\u201d<\/p>\n
The program provides support throughout the student\u2019s time at 51ÁÔÆæ, and teaches leadership and how to work together as a team.<\/p>\n
Ninety-five percent of the program\u2019s students successfully enroll in graduate school.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s a really high number and something we\u2019re very proud of,\u201d said Victoria Moerchen, director of 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Maternal and Child Health Pipeline Training program and an associate professor of kinesiology and physical therapy\u00a0 in the College of Health Sciences.<\/p>\n
