Six UW-Milwaukee student journalists have won six first place regional Society of Professional Journalists\u2019\u00a0Mark of Excellence<\/a>\u00a0awards, and advance to the\u00a02017 Excellence in Journalism competition<\/a>\u00a0in Anaheim, Calif.<\/p>\n

Seven more 51ÁÔÆæ journalism stories were finalists in the regional competition, which encompasses Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. The award winning stories appeared in the student news site Media Milwaukee<\/a>, where the full list of winners<\/a> can be found.<\/p>\n

In addition, the site itself received the \u201cBest Website\u201d award from Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association, which also conferred its \u201cBest multi-media team\u00a0reporting\u201d prize on the Milwaukee Media project “How the Mississippi River Valley Turned Red<\/a>.” \u00a0The awards, known as the Eric Sevareid Awards,\u00a0were presented April 1 at the Midwest Journalism Conference in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n
