The upheaval created by the rise of the Solidarity movement in the 1980s inspired a\u00a0generation of Polish poets to explore new expressions of themes both original and traditional.<\/p>\n

This selection offers a dark rejoinder to a\u00a0classic 16th century Polish poem<\/a>, “The Linden Tree.”<\/p>\n

It comes from “City of Memory: A Bilingual Anthology of Contemporary Polish Poetry,” edited and translated by Michael Miko\u015b, professor of foreign languages and literature at 51ÁÔÆæ.<\/p>\n
