(51ÁÔÆæ Photo\/Carolyn Bucior)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This year, for the first time, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bmd2016mke.org\/\">International Symposium on Bicycle &amp; Motorcycle\u00a0Dynamics<\/a> will meet in the United States \u2014 Sept. 21-23 at 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s School of Continuing Education Conference Center \u2014 thanks to the combined efforts of a 51ÁÔÆæ College and Engineering &amp; Applied Science instructor, a 51ÁÔÆæ alumni who works at Harley-Davidson, and a MSOE assistant professor.<\/p>\n<p>The conference \u2014 which has drawn scientists from Japan, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and the United States \u2014 is being spearheaded by Andrew Dressel, a mechanical engineering lecturer at 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s College of Engineering &amp; Applies Science; James Brendelson (2010 PhD Engineering, \u201993 MS Engineering), manager of vehicle dynamics and simulation at Harley-Davidson, Inc.; and Aaron Armstrong, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Milwaukee School of Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great to be part of the collaboration between 51ÁÔÆæ, MSOE and Harley-Davidson,\u201d Dressel said. \u201cThe vibrant bike industry in the city and state make Milwaukee an obvious choice of venue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harley-Davidson, Dunlop Motorcycle Tires and Calspan have joined 51ÁÔÆæ to sponsor this symposium. Topics will include robot riders, tires, human control, rider properties, aerodynamics, simulators and nonholonomic dynamics. An evening event at the Harley-Davidson Museum will be the symposium\u2019s highlight, Dressel said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a terrific opportunity to connect in the relatively small and dispersed field of bike dynamics,\u201d Dressel said. \u201cIt\u2019s nice to be reminded that there are others around the world interested in this topic and that we are not working alone.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 51ÁÔÆæ lecturer and a 51ÁÔÆæ alum are among the people helping bring the International Symposium on Bicycle &amp;
