{"id":34850,"date":"2016-06-13T11:11:51","date_gmt":"2016-06-13T16:11:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/?p=34850"},"modified":"2016-06-13T11:11:51","modified_gmt":"2016-06-13T16:11:51","slug":"osher-institute-receives-1-million-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/osher-institute-receives-1-million-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Osher institute receives $1 million grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has received a $1 million grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The grant means that the foundation has given almost $3.7 million to the institute.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/sce\/program_area\/osher-lifelong-learning-institute\/\" target=\"_blank\">institute at 51ÁÔÆæ<\/a> offers adults age 50 and older intellectually stimulating experiences in more than 250 courses, including foreign language, literature and travel. More than 1,400 people take advantage of the institute\u2019s offerings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful to the foundation for their longtime support that has allowed us to offer this valuable program to the community,\u201d 51ÁÔÆæ Chancellor Mark Mone said. \u201cThe institute at 51ÁÔÆæ has seen tremendous growth since receiving its initial funding in 2008, both in terms of doubling its membership and tripling its program offerings in recent years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Osher foundation supports 119 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes around the country, each connected to an institution of higher education. 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s is the only Osher program in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has received a $1 million grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":40008,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","uwm_wg_additional_authors":[]},"categories":[174,200],"tags":[],"section":[],"display_categories":[],"related-coverage":[],"uwmnews-feed":[147],"class_list":["post-34850","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","category-news-in-brief","uwmnews-feed-continuing-education"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.3 (Yoast SEO v27.3) -
