Lopez will be publicly honored at the council\u2019s annual convention in Milwaukee in October.<\/p>\n<p>Lopez did his student teaching at Bradley Tech with 51ÁÔÆæ graduate Diana Jones acting as his cooperating teacher. Associate lecturer Cynthia Salamati was his university supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>Lopez is the 10<sup>th<\/sup> of the School of Education\u2019s English Education students to have won the student teacher honor since the awards started more than 15 years ago, and six have won the Outstanding First-Year Teacher Award, according to Thomas Scott, program director of the Early Adolescence through Adolescence English Education program.<\/p>\n<p>Every teacher preparation program in the state is eligible to nominate one student teacher and one first-year teacher for recognition, but only one or two in each category are selected yearly.
