LaVall Jordan approaches his hectic initial hours at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with friendly, firm handshakes and broad, easy smiles. It\u2019s been a whirlwind of meetings and greetings for the 36-year-old, first-time head coach, but he steps into his role leading 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s men\u2019s team with confidence born of a well-traveled basketball path.<\/p>\n
It has been a journey of embracing communities, starting with his small Michigan hometown of Albion, then playing and coaching at the hoops hotbed of Butler University, and later coaching in proud programs at the University of Iowa and the University of Michigan.<\/p>\n
And it has been a journey of success, particularly during the past six years on coach John Beilein\u2019s Michigan staff, including five NCAA Tournament appearances and a runner-up finish in 2013.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a pride in being a part of it, and that same feeling drew me here,\u201d Jordan said. \u201cSo I\u2019m excited to lead the charge and have the community behind us.\u201d<\/p>\n
That attitude is a cornerstone of his vision for the Panthers, not just within the locker room and on the court, but throughout the campus and fan base.<\/p>\n
