If your big data is spatial, you need Geographic Information Science (GIS).<\/p>\n

Whether you are studying data analysis, conservation, urban planning, criminology, housing – or anything on planet Earth – you’ll need GIS to deal with your spatial data. GIS is becoming a core competency for professionals in a wide range of fields, where there is a demand for \u201cgeo-generalists\u201d\u2014individuals who apply spatial thinking across many disciplines.<\/p>\n

GIS Day @51ÁÔÆæ is on Nov. 21, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., with a panel on jobs in GIS at 11 a.m. in the AGS Library, with lunch to follow. The jobs panel will feature GIS professionals working in parks and other land use, conservation, policing and more.<\/p>\n

There will also be morning and afternoon workshops introducing GIS with QGIS, GIS with Python, Allmaps, and humanitarian mapping. The full schedule can be seen online<\/a>.<\/p>\n
