{"id":146562,"date":"2025-07-29T10:57:16","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T15:57:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/?p=146562"},"modified":"2025-08-11T11:51:01","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T16:51:01","slug":"new-dual-degree-program-equips-grads-for-high-demand-health-care-leadership-roles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/new-dual-degree-program-equips-grads-for-high-demand-health-care-leadership-roles\/","title":{"rendered":"New dual-degree program equips grads for high-demand health care leadership roles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">A new dual-degree program at 51ÁÔÆæ is designed to cultivate leaders who can adeptly navigate both the clinical and business facets of health care organizations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The new program \u2013 Master of Healthcare Administration and Master of Business Administration \u2013 is a joint effort by the College of Health Professions &amp; Sciences and the Lubar College of Business.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThis dual-degree program is a strategic response to the pressing need for versatile leaders in our health care system,\u201d said Kaushal Chari, dean of the Lubar College of Business. \u201cBy integrating business and health care education, we\u2019re preparing professionals to tackle the complexities of modern health care delivery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for medical and health service managers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/ooh\/management\/medical-and-health-services-managers.htm\">is projected to grow<\/a> 29% from 2023 to 2033, much faster than the average for all occupations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0\u201cWe have brought together two strong accredited degree programs, both with faculty who are practice leaders in their respective fields, allowing graduates to be career ready in 2\u00bd years,\u201d said Kim Litwack, dean of the College of Health Professions &amp; Sciences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The MHA\/MBA program aims to equip graduates with a comprehensive skill set that combines health care administration expertise with robust business acumen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIf you\u2019re looking to stand out in today\u2019s competitive health care and business world, this is the degree, program director Melissa Armstrong said. \u201cIt is only dual MHA-MBA degree in Wisconsin, and it offers a fast track to leadership.
