Gov. Tony Evers toured 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s campus alongside Chancellor Mark Mone Tuesday morning, stopping at Sandburg Hall and the Klotsche Center to speak with 51ÁÔÆæ students and employees.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Evers also toured UW-Green Bay and UW-Stevens Point during the day to highlight his proposal for more than $800 million of state funding for the Universities of Wisconsin, the largest such biennial budget proposal in state history. Evers has said the investment is aimed at preventing further cuts to UWs staff, faculty, campuses and programs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At Sandburg, Gov. Evers learned more about the activities and facilities that make students\u2019 \u201chome away from home\u201d as welcoming as possible. University Housing is at capacity this fall, and Sandburg alone is hosting more than 2,700 students.<\/span><\/p>\n

Evers spoke with more staff and students at Klotsche, where they showed him the many activities available through the University Recreation program. The governor also toured Klotsche\u2019s workout facilities and saw the new Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin (OHOW) Center, a 16,000-square-foot expansion to Klotsche that\u2019s home to 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball teams.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
