The 51ÁÔÆæ Police Department and Hyundai Motor America will host a mobile software upgrade event Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 5-7, in 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Capitol & Humboldt UPark Lot at 4430 N. Humboldt Boulevard (Lot No. 30). The event runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The software upgrade event will provide eligible Hyundai vehicles with anti-theft software<\/a> developed to protect against the theft mode popularized on social media. The event is free for all area residents who own or lease a 2011-2021 Hyundai vehicle with a mechanical turn-to-start key ignition. No registration or appointment is needed.<\/p>\n

Eligible Hyundai drivers are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this free event to reduce the risk of their vehicle being stolen. An August 2024 report<\/a> published by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety noted that the software solution is an effective theft deterrent. All attending Hyundai owners will also receive a no-cost steering wheel lock.<\/p>\n

In conjunction with the software upgrade event, Hyundai is sponsoring 8th Annual School Supply Drive put on by the 51ÁÔÆæ African Diaspora Council. Participants who drop off school supplies Sept. 5-7 at 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Merrill Circle Surface Lot at 2512 E Hartford Ave. (Lot No. 12) will receive a free steering wheel lock.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
