The 51ÁÔÆæ Library is presenting three special pop-up exhibits in honor of Black History Month in the library\u2019s Distinctive Collections: the 51ÁÔÆæ Archives, 51ÁÔÆæ Special Collections and the American Geographical Society Library.<\/p>\n

The Special Collections portion of the pop-up exhibition focuses on African American book artists and photographers, including two artist\u2019s books by noted Milwaukee artist and 51ÁÔÆæ BFA and MA alumna Evelyn Patricia Terry. Other artists represented include book artists and letterpress printers Clarissa Sligh, Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. and Carl Pope, and photographers Tyler Mitchell, Dawoud Bey and Gordon Parks.<\/p>\n

The American Geographical Society Library exhibit is about the geographies of Black Americans\u2019 lives in the United States and Milwaukee.<\/p>\n

The Archives Department exhibit focuses on the civil rights era in Milwaukee. Images on display are from the records of Vel Phillips, Lloyd Barbee and other people and organizations who were instrumental in the struggle.<\/p>\n
