{"id":119451,"date":"2023-03-27T14:47:30","date_gmt":"2023-03-27T19:47:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/?p=119451"},"modified":"2023-05-10T16:02:12","modified_gmt":"2023-05-10T21:02:12","slug":"deans-and-interim-deans-named-to-uwms-realigned-colleges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/deans-and-interim-deans-named-to-uwms-realigned-colleges\/","title":{"rendered":"Deans and interim deans named to 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s realigned colleges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Deans and interim deans who will lead the four realigned 51ÁÔÆæ schools and colleges beginning July 1 have been named by Interim Provost Scott Gronert.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The appointments include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mo Zell, currently the interim dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, will be interim dean for the <strong>College of the Arts &amp; Architecture<\/strong>. The new college blends the academic departments of architecture, urban planning, art and design, dance, film, music and theater.<\/li>\n<li>Tina Freiburger, currently the dean of the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare and the School of Education, and interim dean of the School of Information Studies, will be dean of the <strong>College of Community Engagement &amp; Professions<\/strong>, which blends the current Helen Bader School of Social Welfare, School of Education and School of Information Studies.<\/li>\n<li>Kim Litwack, currently the dean of the College of Nursing, will be dean of the <strong>College of Health Professions &amp; Sciences<\/strong>, which brings together the School of Nursing with three departments currently part of the School of Health Sciences. The new college will include a School of Biomedical Sciences and Health Care Administration, and a School of Rehabilitation Sciences and Technology.<\/li>\n<li>Amy Harley, currently interim dean of the Zilber School of Public Health, will be interim dean of the <strong>Zilber College of Public Health<\/strong>, which will integrate public health with kinesiology, nutrition and health informatics \u2013 programs that are currently within the School of Health Sciences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The college realignments are a key part of the university\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/2030-action-team\/\">2030 Action Plan<\/a>, a road map to guide 51ÁÔÆæ into the next decade and beyond. The initiative\u2019s overarching goal to foster a more student-centric university.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">51ÁÔÆæ students should benefit from more access to advisors, more flexibility in course selection and a wider range of learning and research opportunities as a result of this realignment of some schools and colleges.
