{"id":119178,"date":"2023-03-20T10:38:22","date_gmt":"2023-03-20T15:38:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/?p=119178"},"modified":"2023-03-20T10:38:22","modified_gmt":"2023-03-20T15:38:22","slug":"uwm-wins-first-postseason-tournament-game-since-2006","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/uwm-wins-first-postseason-tournament-game-since-2006\/","title":{"rendered":"51ÁÔÆæ wins first postseason tournament game since 2006"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Led by BJ Freeman\u2019s record-setting performance, the 51ÁÔÆæ men\u2019s basketball team beat Stetson 87-83 in overtime Sunday in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational tournament in Daytona Beach, Florida.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The victory was 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s first in a postseason tournament since beating Oklahoma in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2006, the year after its run to the Sweet 16. 51ÁÔÆæ now plays Charlotte in the CBI quarterfinals at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The game will be broadcast on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flohoops.com\/\">FloHoops<\/a> and 101.7 FM The Truth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The CBI semifinals and final game will be broadcast on ESPN2 on Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Freeman scored a career high 43 points Sunday, breaking the CBI record of 39 and second in 51ÁÔÆæ history only to Von McDade\u2019s 50-point outing in 1990.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHe did have a special game and we needed every bit of it,\u201d 51ÁÔÆæ coach Bart Lundy said. \u201cThey were box-and-1 a good bit of that second half, and he was able to make play after play.
