Registered dietitians at 51ÁÔÆæ will provide the analyses using software donated by the local grocer. Deli items that feature special green checkmark signage will be packaged with a scannable code that links to full nutritional date on Sendik\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis local partnership is part of our continuing effort to accommodate our guests in making informed nutritional decisions,\u201d said Ted Balistreri, family co-owner of Sendik\u2019s. \u201cIt\u2019s important to us that our guests have the proper information to make the best choices for their families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2014\/04\/sendiks_j2-2kjkzf0.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11462\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2014\/04\/sendiks_j2-2kjkzf0.jpg\" alt=\"sendiks_j2\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>\u201cAt 51ÁÔÆæ, part of our mission is promoting the health and wellness of the community,\u201d said Chukuka S. Enwemeka, 51ÁÔÆæ Distinguished Professor and dean, College of Health Sciences (CHS). \u201cThis collaboration also provides access to a real-world food retail environment for our Nutritional Sciences students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of the partnership, Sendik\u2019s is establishing the Sendik\u2019s Nutritional Sciences Scholarship Fund and providing the Nutritional Sciences Program with access to food labeling and nutrient analysis software for Sendik\u2019s projects and student instruction. Customers of the family-owned grocer will find the nutritional information beginning Wednesday, April 9, in each of Sendik\u2019s 11 area locations.<\/p>\n<p>51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Nutritional Sciences Program is housed in CHS. The departments of Biomedical Sciences and Kinesiology offer the Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences as a four-year curriculum. A minor in Nutritional Sciences also is available.<\/p>\n<p>The Nutritional Sciences Program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in biological, physical and social sciences in order to understand the relationships among food, nutrients, eating behavior and human health. Registered Dietitian Susan Kundrat is the Nutritional Sciences Program director. Registered Dietitian Kit Werner is the Nutritional Sciences clinical director and clinical assistant professor.<\/p>\n<p><b>About Sendik\u2019s Food Markets:<\/b> Since 1926, the Balistreri family has been serving the greater Milwaukee community by combining quality food products with exceptional customer service.
