Starting with fall semester, school spirit now tastes like coffee with a medium body and rich notes of plum, dark chocolate and Concord grape.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe are always looking for new ways to make connections with the community \u2014 our whole Panther family, with students, faculty, staff, alumni and people with ties to the university,\u201d said Kevin O\u2019Connor, 51ÁÔÆæ licensing director. \u201cCo-branding a coffee with cool artwork on the bag with a local company is a fun and approachable way to connect with people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-111169 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2022\/09\/coffee250x300-DSC_6345.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"300\" \/>The Panther Blend\u2019s flavor profile was crafted in a way to appeal to all coffee drinkers, according to Marissa Worzella, Colectivo\u2019s communications and strategic partnership director. The coffee is Mexico fair trade\/organic <a href=\"https:\/\/colectivocoffee.com\/newsstand\/return-of-mexico-kulaktik\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kulaktik<\/a>, a collective that Colectivo has worked with for almost 25 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Twelve-ounce bags of Panther Blend can be purchased at Colectivo\u2019s Milwaukee-area cafes <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.colectivocoffee.com\/products\/uw-milwaukee-panther-blend\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">and online<\/a> until the end of the year. For each bag purchased, $1 will be donated toward scholarships for 51ÁÔÆæ students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Following the release last year of Colectivo\u2019s Milwaukee Bucks-themed Bucks in 6! blend, O\u2019Connor reached out to the coffee chain in the hopes of working on a similar product for 51ÁÔÆæ. The Panther Blend is 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s second \u201cbranded consumables\u201d collaboration, as O\u2019Connor calls it: Last year, 51ÁÔÆæ and Milwaukee Brewing Co. worked together on a <a href=\"https:\/\/mkepanthers.com\/news\/2021\/12\/14\/general-milwaukee-brewing-company-set-to-release-panther-pilsner.aspx\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Panther Pilsner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The pairing of 51ÁÔÆæ school spirit and Colectivo coffee seemed inevitable, Worzella said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt just seems like such a natural connection,\u201d Worzella said after noting that she could see campus from the window in her Riverwest office. \u201cA crazy fun fact is our marketing team has five full-time employees and one intern, and other than our VP of marketing, the rest of us are 51ÁÔÆæ alums. The Panther Blend collaboration has been a really fun project for us, especially considering we all have that Panther pride.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The bag\u2019s design \u2014 1960\u2019s era Pounce, complete with a bulky sweater \u2014 was created by a 51ÁÔÆæ 1985 alum, Kevin Callahan, senior graphic artist at Colectivo. For his designs, Callahan drew inspiration from the culture and people of the region the coffee comes from. He drew from a feeling of school spirit for this design.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI wanted to create something that people would look at and feel some pride about,\u201d Callahan said. \u201cI just wanted to pump 51ÁÔÆæ alums up and show people that this is a pretty cool place and pretty cool bag \u2014 something that people want to hold in their hands and take
