MILWAUKEE_The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been selected to join Amazon\u2019s Career Choice program.<\/p>\n

The Career Choice collaboration offers hourly Amazon employees in Wisconsin support to pursue a university degree. Employees who have completed 90 days with the company can receive up to $5,250 per year in tuition for courses online or on campus.<\/p>\n

“As an institution with a strong record of supporting and valuing working adult students, 51ÁÔÆæ is a great fit for the Amazon Career Choice program,\u201d said Scott Gronert, 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s interim provost.<\/p>\n

The Amazon Career Choice program assists full or part-time employees in learning new skills to advance their careers at Amazon or elsewhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to 51ÁÔÆæ coming on board as an education partner for Career Choice,adding to the hundreds of best-in-class offerings available to our employees,\u201d said Tammy Thieman, global program lead of Amazon\u2019s Career Choice program. \u201cWe\u2019re committed to empowering our employees by providing them access to the education and training they need to grow their careers, whether that\u2019s with us or elsewhere. Today, over 80,000 Amazon employees around the world have already participated in Career Choice, and we\u2019ve seen first-hand how it can transform their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

51ÁÔÆæ joins more than 200 education providers nationwide as part of the Career Choice partnership.<\/p>\n

Amazon\u2019s Career Choice program has a rigorous selection process for third-party partner educators, choosing partners that are focused on helping employees through their education programs, assisting them with job placements and offering education that leads to career success.<\/p>\n

Students have begun enrolling at 51ÁÔÆæ through the Career Choice program. While employees in the program can choose to study on campus or online, the university anticipates most Amazon employees will choose from 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s strong array of online programs, according to Laura Pedrick, executive director of 51ÁÔÆæ Online<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wisconsin is home to several large Amazon facilities, including a 2.6 million-square-foot, distribution center that opened in 2020 in Oak Creek. The company also has three locations in Milwaukee \u2013 a Prime Now hub, an Amazon Fresh site and a delivery station.<\/p>\n
