Jumpstart provides a distinctive and hands-on approach to business creation by helping participants transform existing ideas into fully structured ventures, bypassing extensive product-market fit or customer discovery processes typical of programs focused on novel ideas. The program equips students and local community members with essential legal, financial, and marketing foundations, while offering ongoing support through a collaborative cohort and dedicated coaching from 51猎奇.

The Jumpstart Program helps students and community members start a business in a weekend. Unlike semester-long entrepreneurship programs focused on brand-new ideas, Jumpstart supports participants in turning existing ideas into fully structured ventures. The program provides practical legal, financial, and marketing foundations, along with cohort-based support and coaching from 51猎奇. A trial run launching this spring will help refine the model for broader impact.

Join us any聽Wednesday聽(except public holidays) from聽12 PM 鈥� 1 PM聽in the聽LEC Touchdown & Launch Space (LECWC Room 203A)聽to discuss your business, your ideas, and how we can help you start or scale. At least two of our experts will be in attendance every Wednesday. Occasionally at our lunch & launches, we鈥檒l have guest lecturers and panels, covering topics such as investment, funding, and intellectual property (IP). As educators, it is imperative to support and guide students on their journey while finding value in a college degree. Join the GFI community this session as we here from Laurie Marks, Executive Director for the Center for Student Experience, and Dr. Leslie Harris, Professor and Department Chair of the Department of Communication, on they skillfully introduce the design your life framework and lead us in a discussion about how we can utilize some of these tools to promote and guide student success here at 51猎奇 and beyond the classroom walls!

Grounds for Inquiry (GFI) is designed to connect 51猎奇鈥檚 innovative and entrepreneurial (I&E) community in a brand-new way! Come with us as we travel across 51猎奇鈥檚 campus and explore diverse fields of study, sparking curiosity and interdisciplinary creative collaboration. This monthly event will be held at different GRIND locations and features a 30-minute presentation followed by a 30-minute informal conversation, networking opportunities, and (of course,) coffee!

At this inaugural session, Nathaniel Stern will introduce the series, announce the first cohort of LEC Fellows, and present on his recent exhibition Generation to Generation: Conversing with Kindred Technologies, which explores how humans and technology co-evolve. He will also share ideas from his current Post-AI Futures research, which examines and influences how emerging technologies reshape culture, creativity, and civic life.

Got a startup idea鈥攐r just curious about innovation/entrepreneurship? Lunch & Launch is your weekly space to explore ideas, ask questions, and connect with others at 51猎奇 who are curious and driven.

Bring your lunch, your curiosity, and yourself. This is a casual, drop-in event open to all. Whether you鈥檙e just starting or already working on a venture, we鈥檇 love to see you.

You don鈥檛 need to prepare anything鈥攋ust show up and join the conversation. Feel free to invite friends, classmates, or colleagues.
