The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Libraries have entered into a new transformative agreement with American Chemical Society Publications, allowing 51ÁÔÆæ authors to publish ACS journal content. This agreement adds to an initial contract authorizing 51ÁÔÆæ students, faculty, and staff to read paywalled articles in over 80 ACS journals.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this arrangement, also called a \u201cread and publish agreement,\u201d 51ÁÔÆæ Libraries cover article processing charges associated with publishing ACS journal content. 51ÁÔÆæ authors can publish articles in 13 open access journals and 73 hybrid journals (publications where some articles are paywalled). As of Dec. 4, 51ÁÔÆæ has contributed six articles to ACS Publications, saving 51ÁÔÆæ authors over $24,000 in APCs.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regardless of which\u00a0type of journal 51ÁÔÆæ authors use to publish their articles,\u00a0under the ACS Publications transformative agreement, 51ÁÔÆæ users can read that content.\u00a0To begin reading\u00a0journal content,\u00a0visit ACS\u00a0Publications<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This transformative agreement supports long-term goals of making research articles immediately available online and represents a major step in the 51ÁÔÆæ Libraries\u2019 initiative to support university-affiliated authors in publishing their research to the widest possible global audience. The agreement also encourages a move away from expensive, subscription-based publishing and toward a more sustainable and open access model. This arrangement with ACS Publications is the seventh transformative agreement<\/a> negotiated by 51ÁÔÆæ Libraries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the benefits of the agreement are immediate access to the 51ÁÔÆæ scholarly articles worldwide upon publication, copyright retention by authors, no additional financial contributions by authors, and automatic indexing in PubMed<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
