\"architect's<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Graduate Student Commons<\/strong>, a collaboration between the 51ÁÔÆæ Libraries and the Graduate School, will open on Monday, March 24<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located on the second floor, east wing of the Golda Meir Library, this fully renovated 2,700-square-foot area provides 51ÁÔÆæ graduate students with a \u201cthird space\u201d \u2014 an alternative to home and classroom \u2014 for studying, networking with peers, and building community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Commons overlooks the 51ÁÔÆæ Fountain and offers plentiful sunlight. It includes individual and group seating with a variety of comfortable chairs, study booths, and white boards. The space is partitioned into two zones: one for quiet study and another for collaboration and conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Libraries Director Michael Doylen says, \u201cThis project addresses one of our strategic goal concerning student success and outstanding learning environment, which is to develop spaces that meet our students\u2019 evolving needs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interim Vice Provost for Research & Graduate School Dean Kristian O\u2019Connor, Ph.D. commented, \u201cHaving a space set aside for 51ÁÔÆæ’s graduate students has long been a priority of the Graduate School, and we are very excited to see the project come to fruition. We hope that students will take advantage of this amazing space, whether it is for group projects or just a quiet corner to study.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access to the Graduate Student Commons is restricted to currently enrolled 51ÁÔÆæ graduate students using their PantherCard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A grand opening for the entire 51ÁÔÆæ community will be held on Monday, April 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of the 51ÁÔÆæ Graduate Student Appreciation Week activities.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
