Tasks like selecting and evaluating additional sources of information\, summarizing new information and comparing it to core course concepts all have the potential to build learning. However\, the goals of a research assignment are often not clear to our students. Clear and transparent goals help students to reflect on their effort and take control of their own learning. They are also essential for students to articulate how they approached their learning so they can apply or adjust the same strategies in future assignments. \nIn this workshop\, instructors will identify areas in which students struggle to reach the expected research outcomes in their course. Once these targets are clear\, participants will workshop strategies for balancing the productive struggle we want students to experience in authentic research tasks with the transparency required for students to understand and value the research as a learning process. \nThe workshop will be held in W194/Room A\, Golda Meir Library. \nRegistration Link  Please use the form to RSVP by Tuesday\, September 24\, 2024. \nContact Kristin Woodward (kristinw@uwm.edu) for additional details or to request accommodations.
