The show highlights some of the spookiest space phenomena, including the solar system\u2019s most unforgiving climates and black hole spaghettification. The program is one of the few Planetarium productions driven almost entirely by students: Everything from designing the fliers to promoting and creating the show to presenting the show itself is done by 51ÁÔÆæ students, with undergraduates Jack Koshkin and Xander Strube set to present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cXander and I will take you on a tour through the spookiest places in the cosmos,\u201d said Koshkin, \u201cfrom the scorching surface of Venus where your bones would get crushed, to the gravitational extremes of neutron stars and black holes! I&#8217;m also composing some of the music you&#8217;ll hear during the show, taking inspiration from classic horror movies as well as films like <em>Interstellar<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"alignright uwm-c-img--right uwm-c-img--caption-gray\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/letters-science\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/255\/2024\/08\/CreepyCosmos_8.5x11_final-1-232x300.webp\" alt=\"Image shows an astronaut with a jack-o-lantern head in front of a spinning black hole. With <em>Creepy Cosmos <\/em>being one of the Planetarium\u2019s more student-driven productions, it gives students a chance to shine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt has been an enjoyable experience working with the other team members to create a spooky and fun-filled program that is still educational,\u201d said undergraduate Emma Wilson, a member of the Planetarium\u2019s production and design team. \u201cWe were lucky enough to base it off of a prior program, but together we adapted the visuals into something new and exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All are welcome to attend <em>Creepy Cosmos on<\/em> Fridays, October 4-25 from 7-8 p.m. Tickets are available through the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwmplanetarium.vbotickets.com\/events\">Planetarium\u2019s website<\/a> or, if spots remain, at the check-in booth on show dates.
