The College of Letters & Science is the home of more than half of the funded research that takes place across the entire 51ÁÔÆæ campus. We lead the way for 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s R1 status \u2013 a classification for the nation\u2019s universities with the highest level of research activity. From drug discovery to the impact of social media, anxiety disorders to voter behavior, and everything in between, the faculty, students and staff in Letters & Science produce and disseminate new knowledge across all of our fields of study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are especially proud of our commitment to 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s undergraduate research program<\/a>. Our faculty are highly engaged in bringing undergraduates into their projects and their labs for hands-on learning which in turn builds a career-oriented resume even before graduation. Unlike some big universities, we encourage all students to engage in this type of experiential learning:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
