Dear Students:
The Center for International Education (CIE) and the Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies (CLACS) are accepting applications for the Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships. FLAS fellowships are prestigious awards from the U.S. Department of Education to support training in less commonly taught languages.
Students of all academic programs can apply. Studying abroad isÌýnotÌýrequired.

FLAS Awards: CIE Undergraduate Summer 2022

  • $2,500 stipend
  • $5,000 maximum tuition + required fees award
  • Must be an undergraduate student
  • Eligible Languages: Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, or Russian
  • Application:Ìý

FLAS Awards: CLACS Graduate Summer 2022

    • $2,500 stipend
    • $5,000 maximum tuition + required fees award
    • Must be a graduate student
    • Eligible languages:ÌýPortuguese, Nahuatl, Maya Languages, Mixtec, Less commonly taught languages of Latin America/Caribbean

  • *Note: Undergraduates applying for Portuguese can apply to both CIE and CLACS FLAS Academic Year Fellowships
