Many of us are familiar with the story of the “Cochabamba Water War”, a rebellion of Bolivians against water privatization that was further immortalized in the 2010 film “Tambi\u00e9n la lluvia<\/a>.” Unfortunately, there are still many issues with water rights in the LAC area, and many LAC areas have been experiencing climate change-related water crises recently.<\/div>\n

The UN Chronicle has a piece focusing on freshwater crises in the area,\u00a0found here<\/a>. The World Bank has a piece called, “Water matters: It’s time for action in Latin America and the Caribbean”\u00a0found here<\/a>. The University of Maryland\u00a0focuses on Caribbean-specific issues here.<\/a>\u00a0Finally, suggested case studies include Mexico’s\u00a0constitutional right to water<\/a>\u00a0versus\u00a0contemporary water issues<\/a>, and the impact of climate change in Puerto Rico: discussing\u00a0potable water access<\/a>,\u00a0rising sea levels<\/a>, and\u00a0increasingly impactful storms<\/a>.<\/div>\n
