NCCLA was organized in 1966 by a group of Latin Americanists from Wisconsin universities. Their charter, adopted the same year, expanded the scope of membership to include faculty and students from public and private institutions of higher learning throughout the upper Midwest. The strength of NCCLA lies in its engaged membership network of eight regional Latin Americanist organizations consisting of academics, students and other professionals from the upper Midwest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NCCLA Secretariat is housed at the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"uwm-c-link--external\">The NCCLA website contains complete information about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>awards and past award recipients<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>upcoming and past conferences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>teaching workshops<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>memberships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>committees <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>newsletters and more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"uwm-c-link--external\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncclaweb.org\/\">Learn more about NCCLA at their website.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-nccla-membership\">NCCLA Membership<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Membership in the NCCLA provides Latin Americanists with an important network of colleagues in the region; colleagues whose expertise includes anthropology, economics, fine arts and music, history, geography, political science, sociology, Spanish and Portuguese, and indigenous languages and cultures.
