{"id":4163,"date":"2023-01-02T16:04:25","date_gmt":"2023-01-02T22:04:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/informationstudies\/?page_id=4163"},"modified":"2026-04-01T16:52:24","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T21:52:24","slug":"student-code-of-conduct","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/informationstudies\/students\/faqs-forms-and-policies\/student-code-of-conduct\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Code of Conduct"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-academic-integrity\">Academic Integrity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in the School of Information Studies are expected to comply fully with 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s policies regarding academic integrity, published by the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/deanofstudents\/\">Dean of Students<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-online-communication-and-nonacademic-misconduct\">Online Communication and Nonacademic Misconduct<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Online communication conduct must adhere to all 51ÁÔÆæ policies regarding student behavior. It is important for students to know that all incidents of misconduct, including those involving online communication that may violate Netiquette norms and expectations set by instructors, may be investigated by the Dean of Students Office via the 51ÁÔÆæ Chapter 17 process. Possible consequences can include disciplinary probation, removal from a course in progress, suspension or expulsion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Failure to adhere to professional guidelines may be considered a violation of 51ÁÔÆæ expectations and policies, including those involving nonacademic misconduct. The 51ÁÔÆæ Student Handbook outlines in detail nonacademic misconduct in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.legis.wisconsin.gov\/code\/admin_code\/uws\/17\">Chapter UWS 17 \u2013 Student Nonacademic Disciplinary Procedures<\/a>. Nonacademic misconduct includes, but is not limited to, violations of our campus harassment and discriminatory behavior policy S-47 found at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/policy\/library\/discriminatory-conduct-and-consensual-relationships\/\">Discriminatory Conduct and Consensual Relationships Policy (SAAP 05-01)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See Dean of Students website for more information:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/deanofstudents\/\">https:\/\/uwm.edu\/deanofstudents\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-academic-misconduct\">Academic Misconduct<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Student academic misconduct procedures are specified in Chapter UWS 14 and the 51ÁÔÆæ implementation provisions (Faculty Document 1686). See <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/deanofstudents\/\">Dean of Students website<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.legis.wisconsin.gov\/code\/admin_code\/uws\/14\">UWS Chapter 14 Student Academic Disciplinary Procedures<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-reporting-student-conduct\">Reporting Student Conduct<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Course instructors and fellow students may submit an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/deanofstudents\/reporting-concerns\/\">Incident Report Form<\/a>\u00a0to the Dean of Students Office.
