{"id":4869,"date":"2021-08-06T13:42:48","date_gmt":"2021-08-06T18:42:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/information-technology\/?page_id=4869"},"modified":"2026-03-19T13:44:22","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T18:44:22","slug":"it-resources-for-uwm-retirees","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/information-technology\/it-resources-for-uwm-retirees\/","title":{"rendered":"IT Resources for 51ÁÔÆæ Retirees"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>51ÁÔÆæ retirees with a continued university relationship as an Emeritus or Annuitant maintain access to certain IT services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/policy\/library\/emerit-status-faculty-academic-staff-university-staff\/\">Emeritus\/Emerita Status<\/a> may be awarded to faculty or academic staff by the Chancellor\u2019s office upon retirement. <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/policy\/library\/annuitant-privileges\/\">Annuitant Status<\/a> can be requested for retired employees by their unit\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/hr\/client-group-assignments\/\">personnel<\/a> representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-epanther-account-services\">ePanther Account Services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Retirees may maintain access to 51ÁÔÆæ email service and many other Microsoft 365 services. Visit our KnowledgeBase article about <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.uwm.edu\/89243\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft 365 services based on Affiliation<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>These services are available to all emeritus faculty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Annuitant access is subject to the <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.uwm.edu\/47095\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Annuitant ePanther Accou<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/kb.uwm.edu\/47095\">n<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/kb.uwm.edu\/47095\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">t Terms of Service<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All accounts will have multi-factor authentication (MFA) enabled. Please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/information-technology\/digital-id\/mfa-faculty-staff\/\">MFA Faculty &amp; Staff<\/a> page for setup instructions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A Teams Voice phone number may be given to a retiree with an ongoing business or University need. The retiree\u2019s former department should make a request for a Teams Voice phone number on behalf of the retiree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-uwm-computer-hardware\">51ÁÔÆæ Computer Hardware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Retirees are not prevented from using 51ÁÔÆæ computers; however, in many cases, they are not provided with a 51ÁÔÆæ computer to use. Schools and colleges may allocate computers or funds to purchase computers for retirees as a term of the retirement agreement. Ongoing access to a 51ÁÔÆæ computer is not offered in all cases. Retirees are generally encouraged to use their personal computers to perform their duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-uwm-computer-software\">51ÁÔÆæ Computer Software<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-microsoft-office\"><strong>Microsoft Office<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Retirees retain access to 51ÁÔÆæ email service and many other Microsoft 365 services. For details, see <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.uwm.edu\/89243\">Microsoft 365 &#8211; Microsoft 365 services based on Affiliation.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retirees <strong><u>cannot access<\/u><\/strong> Microsoft 365 Desktop Apps (previously Microsoft Office Suite).\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Microsoft Office 2021 may be used by retirees on 51ÁÔÆæ-owned computers only. This allows for continued access to most \u201cMicrosoft Office\u201d application functions. To get Office 2021 on a 51ÁÔÆæ computer, <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/information-technology\/help\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contact the U<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/information-technology\/help\/\">W<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/information-technology\/help\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">M Help Desk<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For access to Microsoft Office on a personal computer, discounted sales may be available to retirees through <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.onthehub.com\/WebStore\/ProductsByMajorVersionList.aspx\">OnTheHub.com<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retirees may also use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/free-office-online-for-the-web\">Office Apps on the Web<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-adobe-creative-cloud\"><strong>Adobe Creative Cloud<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Retirees <strong>do not<\/strong> have access to install Adobe Creative Cloud apps on personal computers.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Retirees may use the Adobe Creative Cloud \u201cshared device licenses\u201d (commonly called SDL) on <em>51ÁÔÆæ-owned computers<\/em>. To request installation of Creative Cloud SDL on a 51ÁÔÆæ-owned computer, <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/information-technology\/help\/\">contact the 51ÁÔÆæ Help Desk<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For access to Adobe Creative Cloud apps on a personal computer for retirees, discounted sales may be available through <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.onthehub.com\/WebStore\/ProductsByMajorVersionList.aspx\">OnTheHub.com<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In general, if a retiree does not have access to a 51ÁÔÆæ-owned computer, access to 51ÁÔÆæ-owned software is limited.
