The Honors College is excited to offer a number of different student created and student led groups for all Honors students to be a part of. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mission of The Aggregate<\/em> reflects the Honors College\u2019s uniqueness: the people of the Honors College and the many activities in which we are involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bridging the Divide seeks to reduce partisan division by fostering civil discourse among students and promoting civic virtue. The program brings students with different ideological and partisan political perspectives together for small group conversations about current political issues and beliefs. Rather than reaching a consensus, the goal is to increase engagement and understanding between people with different opinions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beginning in 2018, the Honors College began traveling to New Orleans for a service trip. Every Spring, 15-20 Honors students and two faculty members participate in the Honors College Alternative Spring Break trip to volunteer in and explore the city of New Orleans. The trip is student-funded, but generous support from the community donors and from the 51ÁÔÆæ Foundation helps make the experience affordable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Cold Read Crew gives an opportunity for anyone in the Honors College to participate in the wonderful world of theatre. Every month, the Cold Read Crew will read a play over Zoom comprised of members of the Honors College. No previous theatre experience is required, just the conviction to put on a show. Audience members are also welcome and encouraged for anyone not interested in playing a role. The Zoom meeting link will be available in the weekly Honors College announcements the week of the reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The creative writing club is a laid-back community of individuals who enjoy writing creatively and discussing their work with others. Anyone is welcome, regardless of major or honors student status. Meetings are held weekly, offering a wide variety of prompts and writing-based activities. Weekly attendance is not required to be a member. Please join us any time; all you need is something to write with!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Theater troupe dedicated to giving students of all majors an opportunity to participate in one show per semester! Each production is completely student run, from the director to the crew roles to the cast. The type of show differs from each semester, with shows including plays like Marjorie Prime or Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead, to musicals like Ordinary days. We\u2019re also affiliated with the Cold Read Crew, who\u2019ve put on radio plays, tragedies, comedies, introspective shows, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For People & Planet is a student-led organization based within the Honors College. The group has a focus on environmental and social justice issues, especially those within the Milwaukee community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Student-led organization dedicated to fostering undergraduate research in the humanities and social sciences. In addition to meeting once weekly to discuss research progress and create a peer support network, HARPY hosts two annual conferences (the fall Monster Conference and the spring Beastly Conference) and is currently working to create its own undergraduate academic journal and podcast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Honors College is excited to offer a number of different student created and student led groups for all Honors students to be a part of.
