To help individuals in each of these subsets understand and comply with the relevant HIPAA regulations, five seperate overviews were developed targeting each subset. These five subsets are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Employees and Volunteers in Covered Departments (as defined in &#8220;51ÁÔÆæ&#8217;s Policies and Procedures of the Protection of Patient Health Information Under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (&#8220;HIPAA&#8221;)&#8221; (&#8220;51ÁÔÆæ&#8217;s HIPAA Policies and Procedures&#8221;)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instructors supervising or teaching a clinical course at 51ÁÔÆæ<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students in one of 51ÁÔÆæ&#8217;s clinical training programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Researchers using Protected Health Information (as defined in 51ÁÔÆæ&#8217;s HIPAA Policies and Procedures)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Individuals who are not part of a Covered Department but who may come into contact with Protected Health Information (the HIPAA &#8220;Basics&#8221; module targets this group).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/hipaa\/overview\/hipaa-basics-overview\/\">HIPAA Basics Overview<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/hipaa\/overview\/hipaa-overview-for-employees-of-covered-departments-provider-units\/\">HIPAA Overview for Employees of Covered Departments &#8211; Provider Units<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/hipaa\/overview\/hipaa-overview-for-employees-of-covered-departments-administrative-units\/\">HIPAA Overview for Employees of Covered Departments &#8211; Administrative Units<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/hipaa\/overview\/hipaa-overview-for-researchers\/\">HIPAA Overview for Researchers<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/hipaa\/overview\/hipaa-overview-for-clinical-students\/\">HIPAA Overview for Clinical Students<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/hipaa\/overview\/hipaa-overview-for-clinical-instructors\/\">HIPAA Overview for Clinical Instructors<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Certain subsets of the 51ÁÔÆæ community are required to comply with HIPAA.
