Through pioneering educational programs, applied research, and active engagement with nonprofit organizations of all types and sizes, the Helen Bader Institute for Nonprofit Management (HBI) develops nonprofit leaders who change lives. HBI\u2019s programs offer a healthy balance of theory and practice, providing the knowledge and skills needed for effective nonprofit management, leadership, and instilling in participants a critical focus on ethics, responsibility and standards of excellence in the nonprofit field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Established in 2001 as the first nonprofit academic center in Wisconsin, HBI’s mission is to improve the leadership and effectiveness of nonprofit organizations through education, research and service. HBI’s programs include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Education<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

HBI’s graduate degree and continuing education programs provide knowledge and develop skills necessary for effective nonprofit leadership and management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

HBI’s nonprofit research programs and speaker series generate and disseminate knowledge on nonprofit management and the nonprofit sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

HBI supports nonprofit organizational performance with online information resources, technology assistance and a discussion forum series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
