Different units on campus may be involved, depending on the nature of the misconduct. Graduate students and graduate faculty are encouraged to seek information and assistance from the appropriate office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-academic-misconduct\">Academic Misconduct<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dean of the Graduate School supports and upholds rigorous standards of <a href=\"\/graduateschool\/students\/academic-policies-and-procedures\/academic-integrity\/\">academic integrity<\/a> related to graduate education. The sanctions imposed by the university in response to academic dishonesty can range from reprimands to expulsion. If a student is charged with academic misconduct, there are specific procedures, including the right of appeal, which must be followed by 51ÁÔÆæ. Graduate students may request <a href=\"\/graduateschool\/students\/academic-policies-and-procedures\/academic-misconduct\/\">information<\/a> and direct appeals to the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-discriminatory-conduct-or-harassment\">Discriminatory Conduct or Harassment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>51ÁÔÆæ is committed to protecting the dignity and social inclusion of all individuals in our community. Any harassment or discrimination based on gender, race, religion, ethnicity, age, disability, or sexual orientation is prohibited. The <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/community-empowerment-institutional-inclusivity\/\">Division of Community Empowerment and Institutional Inclusivity<\/a> can assist all students, staff and faculty with concerns and formal complaints about any type of harassment, violence or discrimination. The EDS website provides specific information about <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/policy\/library\/sexual-violence-and-sexual-harassment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sexual harassment<\/a> and the University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/titleix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Discriminatory Conduct Policy<\/a> in compliance with federal law prohibiting any form of sex-based misconduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-non-academic-misconduct\">Non-Academic Misconduct<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/deanofstudents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Office of the Dean of Students<\/a> is responsible to uphold university codes of conduct that are not directly related to academic affairs, but nevertheless are required to ensure a positive, safe and healthy environment on campus. The DOS website provides information about expectations for the behavior of students, on and off campus. The Dean of Students administers cases related to <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/deanofstudents\/conduct\/non-academic-misconduct\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">non-academic misconduct<\/a> involving graduate students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are several kinds of misconduct within the university that may result in charges requiring formal procedures to investigate and resolve.
