We recognize the impact the shutdown had on many members of our community and appreciate your patience throughout this period.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As federal agencies resume operations, it will take time for all services to return to normal. Given the length of the shutdown, processing times and communications with agencies may be delayed in the coming days.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For operations related to our campus community:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Student Aid:<\/strong>\u202fThe U.S. Department of Education will resume regular processing of FAFSA applications, Pell Grants and federal student loans as operations stabilize. Students do not need to take additional steps at this time but should continue to monitor their campus email and the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/finances\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Financial Aid Office website<\/a> for updates.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Research Activities:<\/strong>\u202fFaculty and research staff may begin reconnecting with their federal program officers as agencies reopen. Please be aware that response times may be slower than usual.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Campus Services:<\/strong>\u202fUniversity operations remain normal, and no interruptions to campus services occurred during the shutdown.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We encourage anyone experiencing difficulties in their interactions with federal agencies\u2014whether related to research funding, student aid, or other programs\u2014to continue to share those experiences by emailing <a href=\"mailto:klduce@uwm.edu\">Keri Duce<\/a>, chief government relations officer, so assistance can be provided as appropriate.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Nov. 12, Congress passed legislation to fund the federal government, and President Trump signed the bill early on Nov. 13, officially reopening federal operations.
