{"id":7433,"date":"2023-03-08T15:16:05","date_gmt":"2023-03-08T21:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/webid2-test-lsweb\/?page_id=7433"},"modified":"2025-08-22T10:31:22","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T15:31:22","slug":"students","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/geography\/students\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Resources"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"uwm-bg-white uwm-u-pb-80 uwm-u-pt-0\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\">\n<p class=\"lead-in\">The knowledge and skills gained while studying geography can be applied to almost every problem facing our society today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"default\">Policy makers, business leaders, social service providers, and economic developers &#8211; to name just a few &#8211; need to understand the connections and relationships between places and people, and between the physical world and society, in order to make sound decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 51ÁÔÆæ, students take coursework in physical geography, human geography, and geographic information science. Students who wish to focus on GIS can major in geography and minor in GIS within our department. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our smaller program provides lots of faculty interaction and personalized
