The campus will close by June 30, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>51ÁÔÆæ is exploring partnerships with Moraine Park Technical College to determine how best to maintain access to higher education in Washington County while more directly meeting the needs of students, the community and employers based on demand. To be clear, 51ÁÔÆæ is not merging the Washington County campus with MPTC, but developing a sustainable model of partnership based on the community&#8217;s needs.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>How will the closure of 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Washington County campus affect current students?<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>51ÁÔÆæ will work with all current students to ensure they continue to have a pathway to degree completion or help them transfer to the school of their choice. 51ÁÔÆæ will also work closely with current students to help them access counseling and student support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some students may have questions about the TRIO program or their scholarships from the Washington County Charitable Foundation. The form will prompt you to select a campus and specify an entry term. For questions about transcripts, status and records, contact the Registrar\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>What tuition rate will Washington County students be charged when they transition to one of 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s other locations?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p><strong>Students who transition to the main campus<\/strong> will transition into one of the available bachelor\u2019s degree programs and will be charged the listed program rates.&nbsp;Main campus segregated fees will apply.&nbsp;Note, associate degree programs are not available at the main campus.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Students who transition to the Waukesha campus<\/strong> will have the option to complete their associate degree at the listed program rate or transition into one of the available bachelor\u2019s degree programs at the listed program rates.&nbsp;Waukesha campus segregated fees will apply.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Students who transition to online offerings <\/strong>will have the option to complete the associate degree at the listed program rate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Are there scholarships available for Washington County students?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>There are scholarships provided by 51ÁÔÆæ and the Washington County Charitable Foundation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>51ÁÔÆæ Transition Scholarships<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>51ÁÔÆæ is offering one-time transition scholarships for current Washington County students who enroll in Fall 2024 at another 51ÁÔÆæ location or program.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A $500 scholarship is available for students continuing at the associate degree level.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A $1,000 scholarship is available for students continuing or transitioning into the bachelor\u2019s degree level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Scholarship details: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The scholarship is a one-time award (non-renewable).&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The scholarship amounts listed above apply to full-time enrollment (12 credits). Students who enroll part time (1-11 credits) will receive 50% of those amounts.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The scholarship is awarded for the 2024-25 academic year, and the amount will be divided evenly between the fall and spring terms.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The scholarship will automatically be awarded to Spring 2024 enrollees from the Washington County campus within two weeks of the student enrolling for Fall 2024 courses. No additional steps are required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are encouraged to apply for other 51ÁÔÆæ scholarships via the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.academicworks.com\/users\/sign_in\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Panther Scholarship Portal<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Washington County Charitable Foundation Scholarships<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Washington County Charitable Foundation supports the educational needs of the Washington County community. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wccf-wi.org\/scholarship-info\/\">foundation\u2019s scholarship portal<\/a>&nbsp;will open Dec. 15.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scholarship details are as follows:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For new students living in Washington County, scholarships will support students attending any Universities of Wisconsin location.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current Washington County campus students will be eligible for scholarships even if they are not residents of Washington County.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For additional information on scholarships, tuition and courses, please contact your academic advisor.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-for-employees\">For Employees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>More information for employees can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/generalstudies\/about\/waukesha-closure\/#faqs\">Waukesha Campus Closure FAQs.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion\" data-accordion-prefix-classes=\"uwm\" data-accordion-cool-selectors=\"1\"><button class=\"uwm-p-accordion--toggle-button size-p-md\">Expand All<\/button>\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>With the announced closure of the College of General Studies after the Spring 2025 semester, does that mean I will be laid off<\/strong>?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>(<em>Updated April 11, 2024<\/em>)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because the College of General Studies, which includes both the Washington County and Waukesa campuses, will be closing effective June 30, 2025, most employees will receive nonrenewal or layoff notices, depending on employment category. 51ÁÔÆæ will follow all applicable processes and notice periods, depending on the employee category. 51ÁÔÆæ anticipates retaining most Waukesha employees through the 2024-25 academic year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The process for tenured faculty layoffs will follow&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/regents\/policies\/procedures-relating-to-financial-emergency-or-program-discontinuance-requiring-faculty-layoff-and-termination\/\">Regent Policy Document 20-24<\/a>. 51ÁÔÆæ has not yet issued a program discontinuance proposal to begin that process. 51ÁÔÆæ anticipates doing so over the next several weeks. Faculty will not receive layoff notices unless and until the program discontinuance proposal is approved by the Board of Regents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As 51ÁÔÆæ works with WCTC to create the 51ÁÔÆæ University Center at WCTC, we anticipate students will pursue their associate degree at WCTC and WCTC\u2019s enrollment will grow. 51ÁÔÆæ is also working closely with WCTC to provide information and other resources for employment opportunities there.
