These courses range from introductory classes with no prerequisites to specialized upper-level and graduate courses, with options available in-person, online, and hybrid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"lead-in\">Here are 13 courses to consider when building your fall schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-great-intro-courses-no-prerequisites\">Great Intro Courses (No Prerequisites!)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These are great options for first-year students, non-majors, or anyone looking to explore freshwater or atmospheric sciences. And they all fulfill Natural Science GER requirements!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-frshwtr-101-elements-of-water\">1. FRSHWTR 101 \u2013 Elements of Water<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h-frshwtr-101-elements-of-water-an-introduction-to-freshwater-science-including-water-resources-aquatic-systems-and-environmental-challenges-related-to-water-this-course-also-fulfills-a-natural-sciences-ger-requirement\">Water connects everything \u2014 ecosystems, climate, cities, food systems, and the economy. In this course, you\u2019ll learn why freshwater is one of the most important natural resources on Earth, how the water cycle works, and what happens when natural water systems are disrupted. FRSHWTR 201 \u2013 The Water Environment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Aquatic environments are shaped by a combination of physical, chemical, and biological factors. These courses are mixed with undergraduate and graduate students. Typically, these courses meet at Great Lakes Research Facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-frshwtr-471-introduction-to-sensing-networks\"><strong>FRSHWTR 471 \u2013 Introduction to Sensing Networks<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h-frshwtr-471-introduction-to-sensing-networks-learn-how-environmental-data-is-collected-using-sensors-and-monitoring-networks-and-how-that-data-is-used-to-understand-environmental-systems\">Learn how environmental data is collected using sensors and monitoring networks and how that data is used to understand environmental systems.
