While the majority of faculty and staff are based at GLRF, as well as some classrooms, a handful of faculty and staff also hold office hours and conferences on main campus in Northwest Quadrant Building B (NWQB). This page details helpful information for getting to GLRF and how to find us on main campus, as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">On this page:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-l-grid uwm-c-button--grid uwm-l-grid-row--30 uwm-l-grid-column--30 uwm-l-grid--2 uwm-l-grid--equal-y\">\n<a class=\"uwm-c-button uwm-c-button--outline\" href=\"#get-to-glrf\" rel=\"\">Getting to GLRF<\/a>\n\n\n\n<a class=\"uwm-c-button uwm-c-button--outline\" href=\"#sfs-at-nwqb\" rel=\"\">SFS at NWQB<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"has-alpha-channel-opacity uwm-c-hr--thick\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\" id=\"get-to-glrf\">Getting to GLRF<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">City Bus Route<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students traveling to the Great Lakes Research Facility from 51ÁÔÆæ main campus can take the\u00a0<strong>southbound Green line<\/strong>\u00a0from one of the many bus stops nearby on Oakland Ave. After about a 50-minute ride, get off at stop\u00a0<strong>S1 &amp; Greenfield<\/strong>\u00a0and walk 0.4 miles\u00a0<strong>east on Greenfield Ave<\/strong>\u00a0to reach SFS.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Traveling from GLRF to 51ÁÔÆæ main campus: walk west on Greenfield Ave, take the <strong>northbound Green line<\/strong>, get off at <strong>Oakland &amp; Kenwood<\/strong>, walk east on Kenwood Ave to campus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students traveling to GLRF from Riverwest or Harambe can take the&nbsp;<strong>southbound 15 line<\/strong>&nbsp;on Holton St, get off at stop&nbsp;<strong>S1 &amp; Greenfield<\/strong>&nbsp;and walk 0.4 miles&nbsp;<strong>east on Greenfield Ave<\/strong>&nbsp;to reach SFS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students living in other parts of the city could also take the\u00a0northbound 15\u00a0and\u00a0Green lines, the\u00a056, or the\u00a054.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ridemcts.com\/real-time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bus Tracker<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/platform.remix.com\/project\/a7419d70?latlng=43.01804,-87.99939,10.743\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Interactive Map of Bus Lines<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">U-PASS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students that pay segregated fees at 51ÁÔÆæ have access to the U-PASS, a bus pass which makes the city bus free to ride!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download the UMO app, then follow the instructions provided by Transportation Services to add your student pass. The UMO app functions as your pass, but it can also be used for directions and checking arrival times. Note: new passes must be added to the UMO app each semester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/transportation\/upass\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">U-PASS details &#8211; Transportation Services<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biking<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For accessing GLRF by bike, students near the main campus can take the Oak Leaf trail most of the way, but then must ride on streets. Some streets on the way to SFS are for confident bikers, so it is advised you check the map provided to determine if the route is appropriate for you. This map provided by the City of Milwaukee is meant to give you an idea of what streets have bike infrastructure and how busy they are.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students that bike, skate, or use small scooters also have the option of connecting their vehicle to the bus. All city buses are equipped with an easy-to-use bike rack to store your bike while you ride. All other personal vehicles are allowed onboard the bus so long as they are unobstructive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mapmkeonline.maps.arcgis.com\/apps\/webappviewer\/index.html?id=25f76878080648479fd24d29908e8716\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">City of Milwaukee Bike Route Finder<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bike racks are available in front of the GLRF building.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information on <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/urec\/programs\/outdoor-pursuits\/bike-shop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">51ÁÔÆæ Bike Repairs and Rentals<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"has-alpha-channel-opacity uwm-c-hr--thick\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\" id=\"sfs-at-nwqb\">SFS at NWQB<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Northwest Quad Offices<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The School of Freshwater Sciences offices at Northwest Quadrant are on the second floor of Building B. Use the entrance off of Hartford Ave. Take the Red elevators (down the hall on the left) to the second floor. SFS offices are straight ahead, with a common area just to the left of the elevators. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parking options at GLRF<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two options for parking at GLRF, both options at no cost and are unreserved.
