He is a graduate of the 51 School of Freshwater Sciences. \n\nThis talk will explore 20 years of USGS research on the environmental impacts of airports on stream health. \n  \n  \n \n\nThis seminar of the Fall 2025 Freshwater Colloquium series will be held in the GLRF Ballroom. A fascinating talk around freshwater resources. Please join us! \n\n\nThis presentation is open to students\, faculty\, staff\, alumni and the public. \n\n\n\n\n  \n\nFall 2025 Colloquium Series schedule. The Colloquium series creates a platform where students\, faculty\, and scientists discuss emergent issues related to freshwater science research. Invited speakers present specific topics of their research\, as well as policy\, commercial\, and industrial experiences. Everyone is welcome. Twice as strong as a 2008 event\, it briefly changed the aquascape of Milwaukee. Our lab time series put the first month of impact into focus using 5 survey cruises including teams from  student classes. Cycles of layering – mixing and wind patterns showed vigorous plankton growth and its chemical draw-down responding on 2-3-day scales to weather patterns. Nutrient evasion into nearshore waters did not persist\, but phytoplankton communities were diversified compared to earlier in the year. Fine coincidence with salmon and perch fishing action. \nOur very own Senior Scientist\, Dr. Russell Cuhel\, will present his talk “First Flush: Rapid Interdisciplinary Response to a 5 Billion Gallon Combined Sewer Overflow”. Sure to be a fascinating discussion on very current topic for all of us. Please join us Monday September 29th @ 3PM in the Ballroom. Arrive before 3PM to enjoy some light refreshments. \n  URL:/freshwater/event/freshwater-colloquium-first-flush-rapid-interdisciplinary-response-to-a-5-billion-gallon-combined-sewer-overflow/ LOCATION:School of Freshwater Sciences Ballroom\, First Floor\, 600 E Greenfield Avenue\, Milwaukee\, WI\, 53204 CATEGORIES:Alumni & Community,Lectures Conferences and Symposiums,Public,Students,51 Campus Events X-TRIBE-STATUS: END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
