Eligible students can receive up to eight (8) semesters of Lawton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawton is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. To remain eligible for the program, a student needs to complete 24 unique credits in a full academic year (Fall, UWinterim, Spring, and Summer semesters). Lawton is a Wisconsin State Statute, and these credit requirements are set by the Universities of Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">What happens if I drop a course during the semester?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>If you drop a course during the course of the semester, you will not need to add a late course to remain in the Lawton Program. You may make up the missing credits either during UWinterim, Spring, or Summer terms to reach the 24-credit requirement. If you enroll in summer courses to meet the 24-credit requirement, you will need to notify the Lawton Team at <a href=\"mailto:uwmlawton@uwm.edu\">uwmlawton@uwm.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">What should I do if I need to drop a class?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>We strongly encourage you to talk to your academic advisor before dropping a course. They will be able to provide you information about how it may impact your financial aid, graduation plan, and successful academic completion. You can find the name and contact information of your advisor on <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/paws\">PAWS<\/a> on the right side of the main \u201cStudent Center\u201d page or on <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.navigate.eab.com\">Navigate360<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">I was wondering if the academic advisor I must meet with is my regular academic advisor?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Yes, the academic advisor that you meet with would be the one assigned to you through your school, college, or advising unit or the advisor who assists you with your class choices and graduation plan.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Can I meet with someone other than my academic advisor?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>In the Fall semester, you are required to meet with your academic advisor. In the Spring semester, you have the flexibility to meet with your 51ÁÔÆæ advisor or 51ÁÔÆæ success coach. Appointments with your academic advisors and success coaches can be made through <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.navigate.eab.com\">Navigate360<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">How do I inform the Lawton Program that I have met with my academic advisor or success coach?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Your academic advisor or success coach must enter their meeting notes into <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.navigate.eab.com\">Navigate360<\/a>. Make sure to mention that you are a Lawton Scholar your appointment, so they know to do this.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-economics-110-economics-of-personal-finance\">Economics 110: Economics of Personal Finance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion\" data-accordion-prefix-classes=\"uwm\" data-accordion-cool-selectors=\"1\"><button class=\"uwm-p-accordion--toggle-button size-p-md\">Expand All<\/button>\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>What type of course is Economics 110: Economics of Personal Finance?<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Econ 110 is a 1-credit course on the economics of personal financial management. Students learn about the development of successful financial skills through assignments emphasizing students&#8217; individual situations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>When do I have to take Econ 110?<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>The Lawton Program requires all recipients to complete Economics 110 within the first two semesters of the program.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>Can I complete Econ 110 over the summer?<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Yes! Econ 110 is offered during the summer. If you enroll in the summer term, you need to let the Lawton Team (<a href=\"mailto:uwmlawton@uwm.edu\">uwmlawton@uwm.edu<\/a>) know. Please note that Lawton eligibility cannot be determined until summer grades have officially posted. Lawton is a first come, first served award.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>Can Econ 110 be completed online?<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>There are both in-person and online sections available.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>I am a senior with a heavy course load so I can graduate on time. Do I have to take Econ 110?<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>All Lawton Scholars are required to successfully complete Econ 110. However, you may be eligible for an appeal depending on your circumstances. Please note that not all appeals are granted.
