The scholarship is renewable if students continue full-time enrollment at the undergraduate level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>International new first-year students and new transfer bachelor\u2019s degree-seeking students are not eligible for this award; however, they are considered for other admission-based awards by the 51ÁÔÆæ Center for International Education (CIE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UW Flexible Option Degree students are not eligible for this scholarship.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong><strong>Do students need to apply?<\/strong><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>No application is required. Students will automatically receive the award following their admission and prior to the start of their first semester.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong><strong>How are students notified of their award?<\/strong><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Students are notified of their eligibility for the award via email shortly after admission. Details of the scholarship are shared in their financial aid award or offer email.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong><strong>What process is used for a student to accept the award?<\/strong><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Students automatically receive the scholarship offer and will accept their award through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.academicworks.com\/\">Panther Scholarship Portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong><strong>If a student changes academic careers, does that affect their eligibility?<\/strong><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Students enrolling in the associate degree program are not eligible for the award. If a student changes to a bachelor degree program before starting classes at 51ÁÔÆæ, they will be evaluated for eligibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Undergraduate students who matriculate to the graduate career lose eligibility for this scholarship. See the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/finances\/scholarships\/policies\/#eligibility\">Eligibility Policy<\/a>&nbsp;for details.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong><strong>Will the scholarship be honored if a student defers their admission to a future semester?<\/strong><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Yes, provided they still meet the eligibility requirements. Students deferring from fall to spring will need to <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/finances\/contact\/contact-student-scholarships\/\">notify the Office of Student Scholarships<\/a> of their intent to defer so their award can be adjusted accordingly.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong><strong>Can this be combined with other scholarships or grants at 51ÁÔÆæ?<\/strong><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Yes! Students can receive this award in combination with need-based programs or other scholarships.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong><strong>Are students who apply for summer semester admission eligible?<\/strong><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Yes, summer applicants are eligible, but their award will not be applied to the summer term. Exceptions are outlined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/finances\/scholarships\/policies\/#rescission-and-cancellation\">Scholarship Rescission and Cancellation Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong><strong>Are College of General Studies students eligible?<\/strong><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>No. This award is exclusively for students pursuing a bachelor&#8217;s degree.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong><strong>Why hasn&#8217;t a continuing student&#8217;s MAP award been disbursed for the coming\/current term?<\/strong><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>The award is renewable each year for students who maintain good academic standing and are continuously enrolled full-time at the Main Campus with no withdrawals or breaks between consecutive fall and spring semesters.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>If a student is graduating in December, can they receive the full $1000 annual amount in the fall semester alone?<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>No, the student will receive 50% of the annual award for that semester.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>What happens if my residency status for tuition purposes changes to Wisconsin Resident?<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>In accordance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/finances\/scholarships\/policies\/#rescission-and-cancellation\">Scholarship Rescission and Cancellation Policy<\/a>, If your residency status for tuition purposes is changed from a Non\u2011Wisconsin Resident to Wisconsin Resident, you will no longer be eligible to receive the Milwaukee Advantage Program award, as you will no longer satisfy the eligibility criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award will be discontinued beginning with the term in which your residency status officially changes to Wisconsin resident for tuition purposes.
