Carla Sagert began her career at 51ÁÔÆæ in 2000 in the Department of Human Resources, as an IT support and data analyst, and since 2012 has served as the manager for the department’s Information Services area. Carla has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Mary University and is also a proud 51ÁÔÆæ Panther with a Master’s in Library and Information Sciences. Outside of work, her interests include book collecting, historical study and crafts.

Dan Siercks joined the College of Letters and Science in 2005 as the College’s Mac Support Manager. In September 2010, he assumed the role of Systems Administrator and joined the 51ÁÔÆæ Research Computing group to facilitate research access to 51ÁÔÆæâ€™s campus computing cluster. In 2018, he was appointed director of L&S IT and, since 2020, has held a concurrent role of Interim Director of 51ÁÔÆæ Research Computing. Dan graduated from 51ÁÔÆæ’s College of Engineering & Applied Science with a B.S. in Computer Science. He also holds an M.S. in Data Science from UW-Eau Claire.

Kathryn returned to 51ÁÔÆæ in 2022 to serve as the Compliance & Ethics Officer. Previously, she served as 51ÁÔÆæâ€™s Public Records Custodian from 2018 to 2021. Kathryn received her law degree magna cum laude from Marquette University Law School in 1997. She received her Master of Arts in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001 and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994. Prior to joining 51ÁÔÆæ, Kathryn worked at Northwestern University and Marquette University as a law librarian and adjunct professor.

Sylvia has served as the Interim Director of IT Professional Services since Jan 2023. She began her career at 51ÁÔÆæ in 2012 as a Senior Project Manager, and later Strategic Planning and Process Improvement Manager in Finance and Administrative Affairs where she led FAA and campus wide strategic initiatives, including the Shared Services project. Prior to joining her higher education career at 51ÁÔÆæ, Sylvia managed global business and marketing strategies in the private sector; defining overall project strategies and implementations in the manufacturing, retail, transportation, insurance and banking industries such as Chevron Texas Corp, Kraft Foods, United Airlines, Miller Coors and Northwestern Mutual. Sylvia is also an adjunct professor teaching project and business management undergraduate and graduate college classes. Sylvia has a Bachelor of Statistics and Applied Economics degree from Makerere University and a Master’s in Management Information Systems from Auburn University, Alabama.

Brian Switala has been dedicated to the UW Milwaukee Police Department for over 22 years. Since his start at 51ÁÔÆæ, he has held rank of Police Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Interim Chief. His current assignment is Police Captain which primarily oversees patrol operations. Some of his auxiliary duties include overseeing major crimes, security operations, dispatch operations, finance and training. Brian is concurrently working in the 51ÁÔÆæ Emergency Operations Center in response to the Covid-19 pandemic as Co-Incident Commander for the past year. Brian holds a degree in Criminal Justice and graduated Magna Cumme laude. He has completed a number of leadership trainings while at 51ÁÔÆæ. Some of those trainings are Leadership in Police Organizations, UW Leadership Development Program and FBI Regional Command College to name a few. In addition to his training accomplishments, Brian has been recognized with a number of awards while serving 51ÁÔÆæ. Some of those awards include, Metal of Valor (51ÁÔÆæPD), Excellence in Training (51ÁÔÆæPD) and Outstanding Service (51ÁÔÆæ). Brian attributes his career success to working with outstanding individuals, both internal and external, who ably serve 51ÁÔÆæ to their best ability everyday.
