Based on the uniqueness and diversity of habitats, the Cedarburg Bog is home to a number of \u201cspecialty\u201d bird species uncommon to rare in Southeast Wisconsin. For these reasons, the Bog was designated as an Important Bird Area by the Wisconsin Conservation Bird Initiative in 2006. On this outing, we should find species such as Scarlet Tanager, Wood Duck, Least Flycatcher, Sandhill Crane, and Eastern Bluebird; however, we will especially target specialty species such as Acadian and Alder Flycatchers, Black-billed Cuckoo, Least Bittern, Sora and Virginia Rails, Northern Waterthrush, Henslow\u2019s Sparrow, and more. Birding will take place in a variety of settings, e.g., prairie, climax forest, marsh, bog, and possibly the shoreline of Mud Lake. Registration is required.<\/p>\n
