for June 4 \u2013 A Potpourri of Invertebrates"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Howdy, BugFans,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>June is waning, and pretty soon the BugLady will have to stop eating chocolates and watching soaps and get up off the couch and start writing.&nbsp;Actually, with a way warmer and wetter June than normal (more than 7\u201d of rain at the BugLady\u2019s house for the month), the trail hasn\u2019t been as much fun as usual, and the bugs are slow to reappear (not surprisingly, she has gotten some nice dragonfly shots).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So \u2013 your reading list for the week includes bumble bees, butterflies, leeches, and spiders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"alignleft uwm-c-img--left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/field-station\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/380\/2024\/06\/orbweaver-blyel19-6rz.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/field-station\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/380\/2024\/06\/orbweaver-blyel19-6rz-150x150.webp\" alt=\"spider webbing\" class=\"wp-image-15026\" href=\"https:\/\/bugguide.net\/node\/view\/1463347\/bgimage\">Jor\u014d Spiders<\/a>\u00a0are sandwich plate-sized immigrants from East Asia that are making themselves at home in parts of the eastern part of the country.\u00a0 Although they are startling (to say the least), they are reportedly benign.\u00a0 It will be a while before they get here to God\u2019s Country, but here\u2019s one of our larger spiders, a slightly-related <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/smart-news\/joro-spiders-spreading-in-the-southeast-can-survive-surprisingly-well-in-cities-180983845\/?utm_source=smithsoniandaily&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=editorial&amp;spMailingID=49487887&amp;spUserID=ODg4Mzc3MzY0MTUyS0&amp;spJobID=2642873766&amp;spReportId=MjY0Mjg3Mzc2NgS2\">Black and Yellow Argiope\/Garden spider<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"alignright uwm-c-img--right\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/field-station\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/380\/2024\/06\/bumblebee-vagans-mybe14-15.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"
