Instructors<\/strong>:
Danielle Bell. <\/strong>Danielle\u2019s passion for the outdoors started as a small child exploring the natural world with her parents. This love and excitement grew with her through college where she received a BS in Conservation and Environmental Sciences and a BS in Architectural Design. She has worked in the green industry for over 10 years managing properties composed of a variety of native habitats. As the owner of Native Roots LLC, she continues to restore our natural landscapes to protect them from imposing threats and creates landscape designs incorporating our native flora into the developed landscape to support wildlife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Course<\/strong>: 
Plant communities are always in a state of transformation. They can be either moving toward the next phase of succession or regressing due to disturbance. Due to fragmentation and invasion of exotic species, our woodlands and prairies are being threatened. Our actions as land managers can greatly impact the quality of our remaining natural habitats to restore them to their original beauty. In this workshop, we will discuss various management practices that work to restore our native prairie and woodland ecosystems to remove invasive species and increasing diversity of both plant and animal inhabitants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Class Schedule<\/strong>:
Friday 9 am \u2013 6 pm & Saturday 8 am \u2013 3 pm. Discussion, individual study in the lab, or social activities are available Friday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Useful materials to bring:
<\/strong>Field clothing, including sturdy hiking boots, rain gear, tick and insect repellent,.  Boots for wet and muddy areas are strongly suggested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lodging Accommodations & Food:
<\/strong>The workshop fee does not include overnight accommodations. However, tent camping space on the property is available at no charge. Participants wishing to stay overnight in our Farmhouse may reserve a bed in a shared space at a cost of $20 per night. Bed space is limited so be sure to reserve early. Alternatively, the Saukville Field Station can also provide you with a list of nearby places to stay. An optional catered lunch is provided at cost for an additional charge and will include vegetarian and gluten free options. Meal plan should be ordered at the time your registration is submitted.
