The 2706 acres of Cedarburg Bog makes it the largest and most outstanding bog in southeastern Wisconsin. The site serves as a refugium for many northern species of plants and birds and provides habitat for a great variety of wildlife. Because of its unique and varied ecosystems, it was designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior in 1973, to highlight the Bog’s character, rarity, diversity, and value to science and education.
