The curriculum is comprehensive and practical\, including all of the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments. The 5-day format requires students to undertake an increased amount of reading and homework before the classroom portion of the course. In exchange\, participants complete the course in much less time\, making it easier for those with busy schedules to attend. \nFor the 51 registration\, participants must be current 51 students\, faculty or staff. The general public registration is open to anyone 18 years or older. To select your registration group\, hover the cursor to the right of price listed\, then click select. \nParticipants must register and pay any remaining balances by Nov. 12 (45 days before course start date). Participants must complete all pre-course work prior to Dec. 27. \nCourse Details: Course hosted at 51 University Recreation (3409 N. Downer Ave.). Lodging is not provided for the duration of the course. Class runs 8 a.m.-6 p.m. every day\, with a lunch break and a kitchenette available to participants. All eligible participants who successfully complete the course will receive Wilderness Medical Associates® Wilderness First Responder\, Anaphylaxis\, and BLS/Healthcare Provider-level CPR certification. These certifications remain valid for three years. This certification can be used to challenge the DOT First Responder Exam\, which is at the discretion of the local or state EMS authorities.
