The 51ÁÔÆæ Surplus Program 414-229-3465, through Physical Plant Services, helps manage unwanted furniture, equipment, & computers from campus, by either finding a new use for it in another department, selling it online to the public, donating items to area non-profits, or by recycling it as scrap.<\/p>\n
If you have unwanted items that your office or department need to get rid of, simply fill out the Surplus Declaration Form<\/a><\/p>\n For more information see Physical Plant’s Sustainability <\/a>Website for Specific Disposal Guidelines Or, call them at 414-229-3465.<\/p>\n Unneeded circuit boards and articles containing circuit boards are not appropriate for normal trash disposal. Circuit boards contain lead, mercury, arsenic and other heavy metals.<\/p>\n Please contact 51ÁÔÆæ Surplus at 414-229-3465 if you have any questions.<\/p>\n 51ÁÔÆæ Surplus, through Physical Plant Services, recycles unwanted electronics equipment.\u00a0 If you have university-owned<\/strong> computer equipment that you wish to surplus, please fill out a Surplus Declaration Form<\/a>. Items are generally picked up in 1-5 days by campus movers.<\/p>\n Acceptable items for recycling at 51ÁÔÆæ include:<\/p>\n Please contact 414-229-3465 if you have any further questions.<\/p>\n When materials and equipment is no longer needed and the original purchase price of the item is $5,000 or more, the items must be put through the 51ÁÔÆæ Surplus Property Program before disposal. Purchasing will attempt to find a buyer for the surplus material, reducing our waste materials and helping other organizations and individuals recycle. A department listing a surplus item must make sure that no harmful contaminants or hazardous components remain with, on or within the item.<\/p>\n Surplus equipment, instruments and other items must be free of:<\/p>\n For additional information, please contact Surplus at 414-229-3465.<\/p>\n Refrigerators, freezers, and other appliances such as washers, dryers and water fountains when no longer needed are collectively called “white goods”. White goods may contain hazardous components such as PCB capacitors, sulfur dioxide, ammonia and freons.<\/p>\n Removal of unneeded white goods is coordinated through the Department of Facility Services. To request moving assistance, complete a work order form and moving form and forward them to the Facility Services Work Order Center. Moves will be scheduled by the Grounds Supervisor, Ext. 6272. Unneeded white goods will be taken from campus to the University Services Building where they are stored until a sufficient number have been collected to be sent via truck to a salvage yard\/refrigeration recovery location. This company then recovers the Freon and disposes of the equipment appropriately.<\/p>\n Auxiliary units would need to pay any costs associated with the disposal of any of their equipment.
