The lab is Microsoft\u2019s first AI Co-Innovation Lab with a dedicated focus on helping manufacturing advance their competitive edge through AI. It&#8217;s also the first such lab based at a university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Connected Systems Institute aims to expand Wisconsin\u2019s talent pipeline for Industry 4.0 manufacturing, which allows small and medium manufacturers to integrate new technologies, such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and robotics into their production processes. It promotes learning experiences for engineering and computer science students, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/engineering\/academics\/connected-systems-engineering-ms\/\">Connected Systems Engineering master&#8217;s degree<\/a>, offered through the College of Engineering &amp; Applied Science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lab\u2019s opening event marks one year since Microsoft\u2019s investment to build AI infrastructure in Wisconsin.&nbsp;That effort is unfolding through a partnership among Microsoft Corp., the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, TitletownTech and 51ÁÔÆæ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See the 51ÁÔÆæ REPORT story and all the photos from the celebration <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/uwm-and-microsoft-unveil-ai-co-innovation-lab-to-drive-manufacturing-innovation\/\">here.<\/a> See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/microsoft-opens-ai-co-innovation-lab-at-uw-milwaukee\">Wisconsin Public Radio report<\/a>.
