{"id":17850,"date":"2023-12-20T11:00:20","date_gmt":"2023-12-20T17:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/engineering\/?p=17850"},"modified":"2023-12-20T11:00:22","modified_gmt":"2023-12-20T17:00:22","slug":"eleven-students-awarded-scholarships-from-foundry-educational-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/engineering\/eleven-students-awarded-scholarships-from-foundry-educational-foundation\/","title":{"rendered":"Eleven students awarded scholarships from Foundry Educational Foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Eleven 51ÁÔÆæ students from the Materials Science &amp; Engineering Department were recently awarded scholarships from the Foundry Educational Foundation (FEF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the recipients, doctoral student <strong>Omid Ghaderi<\/strong>, was recognized with the organization\u2019s competitive Thomas Begel Memorial Scholarship, given to one outstanding student each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award was presented during the annual College Industry Conference which took place Nov. 17 in Chicago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event featured more than 100 students from 24 colleges and universities within FEF\u2019s network, along with representatives from 40 companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A second scholarship winner, doctoral student <strong>Swaroop Kumar Behera<\/strong>, also has secured a one-year fellowship with backing from the organization. In addition to managing the College\u2019s foundry lab, Behera has been actively involved in outreach to high school students.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other scholarship recipients include: Graduate students <strong>Kaustubh Rane<\/strong>, <strong>Masum Bellah<\/strong>, <strong>Mehran Zare<\/strong>, <strong>David Palmer<\/strong>, and <strong>Seyedeh<\/strong> <strong>Omranian<\/strong>, and undergraduates <strong>Gavin Schmer<\/strong>, <strong>Carol Martinez<\/strong>, <strong>Sara Huerta<\/strong>, and <strong>Setayesh Shalmani<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FEF program at 51ÁÔÆæ plays a crucial role in assisting students with scholarships and job opportunities in the foundry industry. More than 200 51ÁÔÆæ students have received FEF scholarships since 51ÁÔÆæ became an FEF-affiliated school in 1996.
